The guy in grey has the ability to decelerate the pace of her hard hit drives and returning the ball low to their feet.

The hardest shots in PB is the base-line defensive dink, and the reset dink. People who have tennis or other racket sports experience will be most comfortable banging, as a poor dink result in a slam; whereas a ball hit hard and low is less likely going to result in a slam winner for the other side. Since recreational PB is played by older people with diminishing reaction times, it is probably for effective to be a banger. As your game develops, adding dinking and waiting for the proper opening to attack makes you a better player.
