My take on how AI is already impacting SEO. And how tools like ChatGPT will likely influence the SEO and digital marketing space in the future.

It's not about getting outranked by AI content. It's about a new generation of search engines that prioritize their conversion window (one that can have an intelligent human-like conversation) over your content. It's about browser plugins (which exist now) that summarize your page and answers questions in real time about it. It's about a future where personal AI assistants are on our devices and in our ears, answering questions and helping us throughout the day. If it were just prompt-and-click content creators blasting the web with thousands of posts per day, I don't think real content creators would be worried. But it's much bigger than that.

I'm sorry, but by repeatedly saying that the only new thing is the interface, and the model behind ChatGPT 4 - for example - is the same as it was years ago, you have simply disqualified yourself in my eyes. Either you are too busy to properly research this or just trying to defend your vested interests in your SEO services and courses, you will end up being caught by this like many other incumbents who are dismissing change. I have been working in SEO for 8 years now, and I'm actively working on pivoting to a different business model.

Unfortunately, because of the popularity of the interface, a lot of clients are starting to flock to ChatGPT and similar platforms instead of hiring freelancers like myself. I've already seen a vast difference in attitude toward writers over the past three months. It's more relevant to devaluing the work of a writer than impacting SEO, in my opinion. Hi Brian. I do use AI, but mostly as a content assistant. When it comes to really important content it's important to research what is found. I love the tip about using chat GPT to filter keywords and for other things that will be beneficial. Thanks for sharing

Long before AI was a concern, opinion, or editorial as you say perspective has been the difference that makes the difference imho. I often advocate to DIY content creators to use their most FAQ's. What was the last question they answered on the phone. Thats as belly to belly generated content based on market place intel, that they can do.

When yor business is based on SEO either by selling courses or services (or both) your opinion might be biased.

Ask yourself, your family and your friends, are they still using Google as much as they used to? Personally I don't.

Of course I still use Google, but there are millions of topics that Chatgpt is better at, evergreen content on Google is dying (a tiny example would be cover letters and resumes, no one will use Google again in this niche, and that's already million of articles and search queries gone)

If people turn to AI for answers, you might wonder why we still need SEO. It's a significant shift from searching for information to quickly obtaining comprehensive information in one place.

This is exactly what we argued about recently on LinkedIn. I don't see any AI tool that'll be capable of producing high quality contents any soon. No perspective, but just generic contents.

And thank you for pointing out the fact: AI has been around, ChatGPT isn't the first. The hype should be enough already.

Its content is generic, I couldn't even use it to write a follow up email

I can only use it for bulk stuffs like filtering stuffs or asking it some question s (like what is picasso best painting)

Overall it's great but people shouldn't thinks going to change everything (at least for the main time)

I publish almost 3k articles since this January, all good so giving results. All are AI output, I paraphrase it, check it to updated trends keyword, insert it and re-run thru AI again, add links, internal in some in-pages, external as well. All so good. next will do affiliates, and use those related articles and links, hope will give also positive results.
