Spanish giants Real Madrid have released a statement in response to rumours that Florentino Perez was to resign from his role as club president.
According to the club statement, Real were faced with a rumour that appeared on social media which claimed Perez was "allegedly considering stepping down as president."
In response, Real announced, "these rumours are categorically false and are due to certain interests that have nothing to do with reality."
Perez has been president of the club since 2000, when Madrid's peak 'Galacticos' era truly began, and he has overseen six UEFA Champions League triumphs and six Spanish La Liga title victories.
