Alain Badiou: What is an Insurrection?

This clip is from an interview with philosopher Alain Badiou for the upcoming documentary film "Insurrections" about the philosophy behind today's uprisings from the Arab world to Occupy Wall Street. The Insurrections film aims to understand how today's massive uprisings from Occupy Wall Street, to Tahrir and Taqsim Squares are changing world history, and what we can learn from them for the future.

Insurrections is currently planning interviews with thinkers and activists involved in insurrections from Egypt to Istanbul, and from Oakland to Greece.

If I were you I'd want to urgently invest some money in a DP. On the strength of this interview you don't have the experience in production to make the film you're aiming for. That setup is hideously amateur: only one light (no three point kit?!) throwing a hard shadow across a bookcase placed directly behind the subject (why did you squash him up against a bookcase?). You obviously have access to some important people but do yourself a favor and give them the respect their ideas deserve. No one is going to distribute the film if you film it like that
