Hollands vlag -- [Dutch patriotic song] -- (Dutch flag, you are my glory)

Показать описание
-History:
Hollands vlag or Hollands vlag, je bent mijn glorie, is a dutch patriotic song about the flag of the Netherlands. The song dates back to the middle of the 1800s when it was first written and documented. The song mentions a "she" a lot of times, wich refers to the dutch flag. This version of the song was sang in 1984
-The maps shown in the video:
I had issues deciding what maps to use for this video, so I decided to use many of my previous maps, wich I made for other video's. I decided to use my collection of maps as some sort of "timeline" of the Netherlands.
* The first map and background, represents the 80 years war. The map is a collection of maps, put together to represent the rebellious duchies during the reformation and the 80 years war. Allthough Flanders and Brabant switched sides to the Spanish during the so called "unie van Atrecht", they still played a major role in "kickstarting" the Dutch revolt.
* The second map is a map wich represents the ambitious ideals of Willem van Oranje. Willen wanted a united lowlands and strived for religious tolerence. The religious turmoil between the reformed and catholic churches in the low countries during that time, was the major reason why unity was hard to achieve.
* The third map is a map of the VOC. I added it to represent the Dutch golden age of the 17th century. (The flag is cosmetic and was not used by the Dutch east indies during this period, nor did the Dutch east indies control all of Indonesia at that time)
* The fourth map represents the Netherlands before the Belgian revolution. I timed it just right to have the lyrics mention "your Dutch heart becoming woe", wich you could see as a result to the Belgian revolution and the loss of a unified Benelux.
* The fifth map is a map of the Netherlands before it drained out the zuiderzee. I also used a image of the Dutch liberation as background, as it was obviously a important moment in Dutch history.
* The sixth map is a map of the Netherlands today. The background image was queensday in the 1980s. I choose a 1980s image considering this version of the song was sang in 1984.
