When I was a child, I had all of these dreams and ideas that I wanted to create, but I thought there was nobody that actually did these kinds of things. in this world we are so skeptical about if something can be or not be done that we don't even take the chance of failure and don' try to reach your dreams. Videos like this are creating a much better environment for the world, where we go out to create our own dreams.

This is why I want to be an architect.

I started playing Minecraft in 2010 on architecture servers, today in 2020 I’m a junior working for his degree in Architecture and Architectural Engineering at CU, thank you Minecraft 👍🏼

I’ve been playing Minecraft since I was 10, and still do to this day at 18 years old. I’ve spend these past years making multiple cities and experimenting with the craziest building and urban planning designs. My biggest project yet it a world I have been working on for 5 years now. It covers a little over 1 million square blocks, and is a world where I experiment with building designs and the layouts of neighbourhoods (parks, highways, building zoning, public transit, …). I believe that this game has extreme potential to influence design in the future. I actually want to become an architect because of this game.

Fantastic video, Ingles has amazing command over his ability to articulate complex design ideas verbally and visually

I study Architecture and am not far from getting my Licence in the next few years. As a kid I was obsessed with Minecraft. Apart from designing on paper and MS Paint back then, Minecraft served as a CAD any kid could use to unlock their creative mind.

This is why Ingels' buildings are so much more interesting than some other starchitects. He is looking to science and urbanism and human desire for design inspiration and not just expressing a personal ego-driven architecture brand.

describing lego mini figures as "the largest ethnic group in the world" has me reeling. i don't know what to do with this information

As an architect, I agree with everything that was said. Speaking of Minecraft, I would add, that we should have more modular solutions (we partially have it wit BIM), concepts that can be merged (similar to what was explained in the video) but also replicated, scaled and spread more easy, so that - for example - every city has a power plant that does something awesome/unique.

When I was little, I made all these drawings about all these houses, I would look out the window and look at all the buildings I saw, I went to open houses with my mom, I built many buildings on Minecraft and Bloxburg, I started to realize that there is a possibility that buildings can reflect art and new worlds, instead of just familiar day to day life and blandness. The fact that I have a chance to create those new forms of art, and to create new worlds within buildings so unique that you question if this is real life, this makes me excited to be an architect.

Perhaps when the rest of the world finally catches up to the quality of life of Northern Europe, there will be jobs for this kind of architect again. In the meanwhile, we're gonna be building a whole lot more boxes.

I actually like modern architecture. It is simple. It may be boring but knowing basic color theory can turn a home to pleasing atmosphere. Technically minimalism at its finest. Less stuff = more space= less stress
