00:00 Colorful Gloves Introduction

While gloves worn for warmth remain a common feature in menswear, especially in cold climates. You’ve probably noticed that most of those gloves are pretty utilitarian with bulky, thick bodies in bland colors like black or dark gray. These gloves are a far cry from the colorful, fine gloves that were once common in menswear.

These colorful gloves were often called day gloves. Because they were worn during the day as part of regular attire and were distinct from formal evening gloves.

10:39 The Decline in Overall Glove-Wearing

We’ll briefly conclude by noting that the decline in the use of day gloves parallels a decline in other forms of non-utilitarian men's gloves. We’ll briefly conclude by noting that the decline in the use of day gloves parallels a decline in other forms of non-utilitarian men's gloves.

11:10 Conclusion

We have no intention of leaving you on a sad note as we conclude our examination of why men stopped wearing colorful day gloves. So to brighten the mood and add some color, we’ll say that just because colorful gloves have fallen out of favor doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wear them!

Not only can modern-day gloves keep your hands warm, but they also remain the perfect accessory for adding unexpected visual interest or a dash of color to any outfit. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much a pair of colorful day gloves can change the overall look of your wardrobe.

I bought your orange bronze rust suede gloves years ago and look forward to wearing them every fall/winter. They fit like new after this long and the cashmere lining keeps my hands the perfect amount of warm. The gloves don’t reduce finger mobility which is good when driving or digging into pockets. The button fits snug which is certainly a positive feature however can be cumbersome when wearing a thicker watch. The upscale look and wear of this glove helped me focus on an elevated wardrobe leading to benefits in everything I wear. Plus, they are unique! All in all these are my favorite glove and I encourage even casual glove wears to consider them.

I can't think of ever seeing men's gloves for sale that weren't black or brown - now I really want something colorful.

The classic glove boutique in Stockholm has recently relocated. I hope to explore their selection before they open their webstore. Personally I wear gloves most of the year, but special purpose gloves, making riding my bicycle more comfortable.

About 2 months ago I bought 2 pairs of fort Belvedere lamb nappa gloves, in racing green and touchscreen burgundy, they are fantastic gloves and worth every penny in my view, however getting them over to the UK was a nightmare and still costs a fortune, if there were a way to order them via a market in Europe or something like that, shipping costs would be substantially lower, still love the gloves and would definitely recommend to anyone who wants quality dress gloves 👍👍👍

I wear gloves mainly because my skin sometimes (often around fall and winter) dries out and start cracking up due to the weather.

Ooo, reminder to dig out my own color leather gloves and form them again for this year.

I'm a fan of Dents gloves. I have half a dozen pairs, mostly browns and blacks, and I love them. I recently added a pair of black/ berry Silverstone driving gloves to my collection. They're really nice to leave in my car for those cold mornings when the steering wheel is cold, as it often is here in England.

Since buying your gloves I have gotten comments about the orange finger-lining. And, as a 70-year-old vain geriatric, I take anything I can get. :-)

I only wear gloves in the winter for the purpose of staying warm. I have a leather pair when I am dressed up and a thicker wool pair for more casual outfits.

I used to wear Italian glacé unlined gloves They were a snug fit and flattered the shape of the hand. Also i always found that they kept my fingers warmer than the sausage-like thicker gloves. But eventually they became virtually impossible to get hold of as the old specialist suppliers retired and closed.

*GENUINE QUESTION* for my sartorial friends - I wear 1920's clothing every day - recently made some bow ties and started wearing them - lots of people talk to me in the street now...

Seriously - people just stop me and talk sh!t. Can anyone think why people would be MORE inclined to talk to you in a bow tie? Id have thought it LESS approachable.

Men's clothing in the 70's really got "strange?" Hannibal Smith (George Peppard) on the
A-Team show wore gloves quite often - - - great show.

I love all of my gloves. I own several pairs, and wear them almost every day with my suits and ties. I mostly wear unlined so I can wear them year round since where I live typically has mild winter seasons.

I wear mittens during the winter, and sometimes wear gloves and I do have the fingerless ones for the costume effect or for the winter use

They should start wearing them more. It's a normal part of any outfit for any palce or style. I wear gloves all day. And it's nice to see people wear them again now. 👍

I love my GG petrol blue gloves, and my GG scarf in gray and blue. I have received compliments on both.
