I think the increased penetration at longer ranges is caused by the arrow flex being reduced the further it flies, reducing lateral friction in the target. Great testing series!

I wish I had watched this before I bought my Black Hole. Pretty clear the Block is superior. Good to see such a thorough, unbiased review !

Thank you for making these videos. I was shopping for targets and didn’t know what to buy. Now Ill watch all of these videos before I buy one. Maybe between now and then I will also be convinced to buy a Bones bow. Thousands of arrows with The Bones is an advertisement in and of itself.

I ended up ordering one of those clicker counters off amazon to keep track of how many arrows i shoot.

Hey Kramer, great videos, have learned a bunch.. Been absent from archery for about 3 decades, lots of changes..Wanted to let you know about a target from a company called Bulldog Targets. They have a true lifetime warranty and great prices. I have been pounding the C--- out of it and must say am very impressed. Keep motivated, keep making videos.

One thing you learn when taking up archery, don’t become emotionally attached to your arrows and targets. Arrows get broken or lost and targets fall to pieces in what feels like no time at all. I have used layered foam targets in the past and their life span is not long. Weather permitting I shoot for an hour at a time and in that hour I’ll shoot approximately 320 arrows all are field points from a 34# 68” bow. So after 1 week there is a lot of wear to the target. I don’t use broad heads as here in the UK it is illegal to hunt with any type of bow and arrow so I have no reason to shoot with broad heads. Keep your vids coming, looking forward to your next target distruction.

I have this target. Bought it last year. Super happy. I used to blow through bag target so fast.
I shoot alot of broadheads through it. Mainly Qad exodus. My bow is set to 70lbs. I usually shoot 3 broadheads at a time. I get plenty of penetration. So I just unscrew my broadheads from the back then pull the arrow back. Definitely best way to get life out of your target. Great review

I have this target in bedroom that I shoot before going to bed, I love it.

I understand the limitations and why you can't but i would have loved to see testing to failure on every target and then just testing broad heads separately or something. Really interested to see if you can get 2x or 3x before failure on this one or if its like 2x price for 150% more shots. I personally try to avoid foam targets because of the waste and prefer something biodegradable or burnable anyway but still would be interested. Great videos as always

Thank you for what you do. This is all GREAT information.❤️

My dream is to one day build a bow from scratch using some of your designs from your early videos, and taking it to Alaska to successfully harvest a black bear.

Save your money and buy a Bulldog Target with a lifetime warranty! I got one for about $135 and its awesome!

I think the reason for increased penetration at distance is because of the friction design of the target. Reduced speed equals less heat and friction allowing the arrow to travel further into the target. This is a really cool design. In theory, the faster your bow, the more heat and friction the arrow will create, stopping it sooner.

Im learning archery so got one of those 3 layer staw round target's, and they are actually very forgiving considering the price. But mine is starting to get abit worn, i would say after 1000 or so arrows best get a new one. Someone mentioned lateral friction, which he had a valid point. I saw this guy do a test with bullets to see how they move in speed when they leave the barrel, it was fascinating and the equipment he used even more fascinating, it was a long block that had lazers going back and forth in a tunnel. He proved that when a bullet leaves the barrel it actual speeds up, he put this down to atmospheric friction, or air friction, he used two types of barrels, the rifling barrel and none rifled, obviously the rifled barrel allowed the bullet to cut threw the air thus kept a more constant speed when leaving the barrel, but still at a very short distance its like they hit a wall then carry on threw it, increasing speed and then slowing down due to drag force and even air pressure. Im wondering how this would effect arrows, considering that most shoot under 60lb bows, but would be fascinating to know if an arrow reacts the same, due to friction air densities etc. Im interested in science although im not too educated on it, so there was a few things this guy said that went over my head regarding how objects move whilst going very fast. I noticed at some distances theres not alot in how fast, hence how powerful an arrow is. Ive only ever seen this test done once, and for the life of me cant find the video because it was a few years ago, so lost in my phones algorithm. But speed verce friction verse air is very fascinating as all have factors in how objects move.

If the broadhead is coming out the back, you can unscrew it before you pull the shaft out to prevent it from ripping chunks out backwards. I have owned one of these and pulling arrows out damages the target more than shooting arrows into it.

Nice work as always Kramer! This is a great target. Block 6x6 is another nice layered target. Delta Mo Foam Green line and Morell yellow jack 350 are also nice. They are tougher fused layers and hold up better to broadheads. I personally prefer a dedicated BH target. All of these mentioned I have pumped a can of expandable foam into the cores when shot out and that extends their lives quite a bit.

Great series so far. It would be interesting if there were wood arrows in the mix to see the damage that wood arrows with field points cause.
