*Recipe and method for cooking the Oxtail that I tried.

Oxtail Potjie
You will need:
Oxtail - you can use your discretion when buying for the amount of people. It's a very rich meat so not a lot.

1 large onion
4 tomato
Thyme
5x garlic cloves
2 tablespoon ginger and garlic
3 carrots chopped in circles
6 baby potato
3 sweetcorn
Squash the yellow one
Gem squash 2 cut in half
Mushrooms
Brown onion soup
Oxtail / beef soup
Rough salt
Fine salt
Black pepper
Chillies
Half a cup of cake flour
Oil

To prep
Marinate your oxtail in salt and pepper and roll it in some flour.

Cooking
To your pot:
Add in your oil and allow it to get hot
Fry your oxtail until it gets slightly golden.
Remove from the pot

Add in:
Onions
Chillies
Garlic cloves
Thyme
Let it all fry together nicely until it's nice and golden
Then Add your oxtail back to the pot with your ginger and garlic and your tomato
Then about 2 cup of water for it to cook.
Add in your salt
More black pepper
Allow it to cook for about 40 minutes and check if the meat is getting soft.
Oxtail is tough so it takes a while
You may need to add more water.
After about 60 minutes of total cook time add in your hard veg.
Carrots
Potatoes
Corn

You can now add in your oxtail soup mix it with enough water to cover the veg.
Once the veg gets halfway soft
Add in your gem squash, yellow squash and mushroom.
At this point you must not mix.
Taste the salt before adding the soft veg.
When the meat and veg is 10 mins from cooked
Mix in your brown onion soup
Do not over mix as the soft veg will disappear this will be the last mix before you serve
The gravy should thicken and you can have it with a roll.

This is the best meal for this type of weather especially on a fire.

50 years ago that used to be the "place" to go for the December holidays for thousands of "Transvaal" families...
We use to have a place more South towards Margate.

Thank you for sharing, it brought back some memories.

Well done for trying Oxtail. A little secret to the meat falling off the bone is to cook it with red wine after browning it 😉 enjoyed watching your video.

Interestimg take on oxtail, it looked nice. You could also try cook it at a slow simmer on the stove or in the oven till it falls off the bone - which means you need to cook it for a few hours (3 -4). Add some red wine for a rich flavour.

Good to see you trying to make lovely vlogs of places to stay. I didn’t know Indians ate oxtail especially if you’re Hindu. Some advise, try to get some coaching on how to narrate your vlog professionally, also pronounce your words correctly. We’ve evolved into modern times Sumeran. Words like water, walk etc. practice saying them correctly. Use your fingers to eat bones😂😂😂😂😂, we don’t use a fork and knife to eat especially bones. Otherwise it was a nice vlog.
