BEEN WAITING - Hoya sipitangensis

Been waiting.

It’s always a bit exciting the first time a hoya blooms for me. So much can happen between when you first notice the peduncle and the time the buds open; it could decide to wait to bud up, it could dry up and fall off, it could blast the buds.

When I noticed the peduncle on my Hoya sipitangensis, I tried to do the two right things: give it a bit extra moisture and leave it alone. Of course, I’m far enough down the rabbit hole that I checked on it every day, sometime twice. I didn’t want to miss it. But yesterday morning, after days of anticipation, the buds opened.

And they are pretty little things, almost jewel like in appearance; spaced out just right so it’s a tight formation but they’re not banging into each other. I remember when I despaired of ever having a hoya bloom in my care, and now I expect it of them.

So, it was worth the wait, but then it always is.

I’ll keep you posted.
