After watching this trailer a few times I just realized that since Claudio is Tekken's version of a Quincy, then Victor is Tekken's version of a Soul Reaper.

Whereas Claudio is similar to Uryu Ishida, Victor is similar to Captain Ginryusai Yamamoto. Captain Yamamoto was the Lead captain of all of the Soul Reapers and like Victor here, he weilded a blazing katana.

Also both Victor and Yamamoto can do the "Flash Step" maneuver. That's why you see Victor "teleporting" across the arena.

Also both are experienced warriors who are the best in their class due to the wealth of experiences that wisdom granted them.

Victor also draws inspiration from John Wick, and The Architect from The Matrix.

Good Stuff. Good on Tekken to put in subtle nods to our favorite TV shows and movies.

My wife, who's French, translated exactly what Victor said:

First line: "The setting of the sun reminds me of what I need to protect."
Second Line: "I'll handle it."
Third Line: "Accept your defeat. You've already lost."
Fourth Line: "There's improvement, Raven."
Fifth Line: "Let's be efficient." i.e Let's make this quick.
Eighth Line: "We are the only ones that can control the powers that be/the powers of this world."

His French dialogue and its translation sounds exactly how I'd imagine a French assassin would sound. That's cold.
