+12 db SOUND OVERHAUL.

Great scene from 1998 movie "Meet Joe Black". This scene is already uploaded on yt, but it is in horrid quality. In my opinion the quality didn't do it justice, so I decided to reupload in HQ.
Subtitles available.

I do not monetize on this video, i uploaded it for people to appreciate it. There is no other copy of this scene on yt that is uploaded by copyright owners, that's why I did the upload.
I do not own rights to "Meet Joe Black" movie. Hopefully this will not get deleted.

"We lonely here mostly too" Makes me cry because it's true, I know that other people are like me and we just keep going. That old woman is such a great actor in such a great movie.

This scene really underscores the central theme of the movie concerning Death taking a holiday. Why would cold, dark, vast, inscrutable Death personified even want a break from his usual existence, to have one of his 'clients' conduct him about for a few days, one who has lived particularly well and is that rare fellow who can show him around the elements of a remarkable life? What drives that curiosity in Death?

Here in this scene, we get our answer -- Death, it turns out, is lonely. Perhaps he came initially for a taste of what companionship and day-to-day hustle and bustle feels like. But in 'the doctor lady' he's found the ultimate cure to his loneliness: Love. Not only to feel it himself toward another, but to at least pretend it's reciprocated. And in this poor dying Jamaican woman, he's found something else: Wisdom from a knowing elder, who sees through his rationalizations and pretenses, as if he (he!) were a wayward schoolboy, and gives him what he has to admit is good counsel, though he does not want to hear it.

He's come to this one not in his usual invisible form, but wearing this body she can see and knows him by, and through which, speak with him. Even bringing her flowers to send her off. Courtesies he never pays to any of the others. He likes this one, respects her. And when he moves to take her, although it's business as usual for him, and was simply her time, as it has been for the millions upon millions before her, Death bows his head to her, and to her wisdom, and uses her own metaphor to gently turn her attention back to the business at hand: "Have you got enough pictures?" He pauses for her to process it, waits patiently for her assent, and then easing her passing as gently as lay within his power, he bids his... well... it's as good a word as any... he bids his _friend_ a softly-whispered goodbye.

"Goodbye, Sister, " indeed....

Such a beautiful scene.

"If we're lucky, maybe, we got some nice pictures to take with us" - I think of this line all the time. I suppose in the end it's the most we all can hope for.

Brads acting is really good the glint in his eye to the look of frailties and lonelyness to the look of sad

"Take me and you come with me now." It feels like the roles were switched in this scene as if she's death saying "time to come home now mister."

I rewatched this movie recently and had totally forgotten this scene. What great writing I think, and a thought provoking metaphor. I find myself fooled from time to time, I think I'll save this scene to remind myself. Thanks for the upload

I've always had trouble understanding these two scenes because I'm not used to the Jamaican dialect and the poor sound quality of every version ive seen. But I knew it was great incredibly important to work it out one day. Thank you, you have made it fully understandable and as important to hear.

I'm not a fan of Brad but this is one of my favorite movies ever. I love the actress she is perfect. And Brad I love the way his posture starts as an innocent childlike teen with a crush, goes to ancient arrogant Lord when scolded and ends with the most heartbreaking humanity in his eyes in flawless transitions. What a fantastic performance.

"If we are lucky, maybe, we got some nice pictures to take with us."
and if we are really lucky, we get to go, quickly.
we are born. we die. Death is inevitable. There is nothing to fear.
such a beautiful movie.

This movie never fails to amaze me. Because Death is truly innocent in regard to love. He really is just like a schoolboy in love. He's curious, self aware of his own solitude and becomes endeared with a woman who dedicated her life to helping others avoid him. I gotta rewatch this movie to pick it apart again because it's just soooo good.
