Well Said Charles. Was Stunned to hear of this. - and didn't vote for, but must say agree with Senator Fetterman.
Can't be the Arsenal of Democracy, if it's all overseas.
Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, Textiles, so much off shore - and hollowing out of Opportunity for Young Middle Class.

US Steel was in the process of being sold for parts. Nippon Steel is a well-established steel company that can rejuvinate it back to life. I'd much rather it be acquired by Japan than CHINA.

Wasn’t there a little thing called WW2, that involved US steel and those who didn’t have it, and depended upon it?

Many years ago I worked for the last "precision" bearing company owned by Americans... military, aerospace, high tech applications. A German company wanted to buy it and the same hearings were held. In the end the sale went through. I haven't heard of any issues but I guess it's the same sort of concerns... our top secret submarine bearing technology is owned by a foreign country.

I'm thinking that US Steel is worth much more that $14B.

Since when is putting profit over patriotism a controversy for capitalism? Wouldn’t the opposite be both ahistorical and shocking?

It's ludicrous that we're causing it to happen, not just allowing it to happen.

CRH, an Irish owned company owns a majority of the concrete plants in our country now too. When does this become a monopoly??

When WW1 started, America was unprepared to the point new recruits were issued brooms to simulate rifles until new rifles could be made using US steel. Fortunately, we ramped up quickly.
When WW2 started, once again, we had nowhere near enough rifles, jeeps, trucks, artillery, aircraft, ships etc, but America’s steel industry and our expanding manufacturing industry stepped up to save the day.
Today, almost 100% of steel used in America is imported and 80% or more of our manufactured goods are made mostly or entirely overseas.
When Biden bumbles his way to WW3, we will once again be unprepared to the extreme BUT this time we will bot have the steel industry OR the manufacturing industry to step up—we will need rely on our ENEMIES to help……
We don’t really think we are going to win, do we?? So sad!!!!

Off shoring has been a large contributor to the causes of our homeless problem, lack of national well being and the reputation of the U.S. around the world. Labor costs have always been targeted as a problem. Sky high government spending and taxation are doing more harm than good. Henry Ford shrived to lower the cost of producing his Model T car so that his thousands of employees could afford to buy them. It worked and his company grew in size and reputation. He benefited and his workers benefited. No off shoring, bring it back home.

Japan already has a large presence inside The United States.
Look at all those Hondas and Toyotas all over the roads just for starters. This doesn't concern me as much as the migrant invasion at the Southern border of the US!
