Waterworld is a 1995 American post-apocalyptic science fiction action film directed by Kevin Reynolds.
The setting of the film is in the distant future. Although no exact date was given in the film itself, it has been suggested that it takes place in 2500. The polar ice caps have completely melted, and the sea level has risen over 7,600 m (25,000 feet), covering nearly all of the land. The plot of the film centers on an otherwise nameless antihero, "The Mariner", a drifter who sails the Earth in his trimaran.

I saw this movie in a theater a whole month before it's release date (I was 16 years old at the time).... They used to screen the movies for the theater employees and allow them to watch them a month or so early. I got to do the same with "Sleepy Hollow" (with Johnny Depp), and quite a few others.... Damn I'm starting to feel old lol. One of the worst things that come with the "nostalgia" I feel when watching something like this, , is knowing that THIS is one of the LAST movies of its kind!! What I mean by that is, that it's one of the last "EPICS" to use PRACTICAL EFFECTS, instead of the C.G.I. they got so used to using throughout the years.... After "Jurassic Park", they went so crazy with the C.G.I., that I guess they felt that the only way to make a "GOOD" movie, was to go hamm with the "computer graphic imaging". When in TRUTH, , quite the OPPOSITE is the case... "The Thing", "The Fly", "Raiders Of The Lost Ark", "Blade Runner".... No C.G.I. in THESE movies, but yet we look back on them as being "the BEST movies to ever hit the big screen"!! And now, well.... Let's just say that I wish they'd go back to the old way of doing things. Sometimes the "old school" ways are the best!!

At time 2:01 it shows the actor Jack Kehler, at 49 years old but the photo next it is clearly that of Edward Asner not Kehler at 73 years as specified .

Feels really strange watching this movie when you know some of these great actors have passed away, like their gone but they will be forever be stamped and remembered in history with their work, great movie and great actors.
