The Helikon Pilgrim Anorak is a lightweight jacket designed for bushcraft, but how does it fair in Autumn and Winter? In this video, we update my original review of the Piligrim Anorak from Helikon-tex and talk about how warm and rain resistant it is.

Thanks for introducing me to the smock type jacket - I'll certainly bear it in mind!
The point you make about knowing your jacket for waterproofness (or not) is a good one. I've several older jackets, including Goretex which have lost proofness, especially at the seams and I go out prepared for this issue when rain is about.
Yours is a good review.

Had mine a week and I love it. I agree with everything you say. Fortunately I have a huge ex mil goretex which fits right over the top, very bulky altogether but is very waterproof. Pit vents work well. Highly recommend your reviews and the jacket.

Thanks for this review. Surprised about the low waterproof quality otherwise it looks good for the outdoors.

Just ordered one of these, want it for a spring camping trip, also got the swagman poncho roll.

This jacket is not meant to be waterproof! It's simply a windproof/thornproof outer layer for bushcraft made of a cotton/polyester mix. If you want a fully waterproof shell, use a poncho or Gore-Tex jacket, but these will rip very easily if walking through thick bush, or a thorny environment

Did you clean the jacket with Nikwax Cleaner? Before treatment!

Have had mine about the same time and agree with all that you have said.. - I also bought it for the chest pockets, but end up using the zips more.. giggled when you mentioned about wearing with a down jacket.. I did the same. it slips right off :-) adjusting the mid layer gives you so many temperature options and the venting is great.. Shame about the waterproofing.. I also tried with Nikwax but doesnt seem to have made any difference..

Hi iam interested by this jacket, do u think with good merino layers or fleece or both, this jacket can be good for a strong winter ? -20~ Celsius if I'm walking, in static down puffy for eating or camp.

Do u need wash it for the first time, also if is raining a poncho above u will not sweat to much ? Thx

Base layer merino long sleeve, down artificial jacket under and then this jacket or is more cold base layer merino long sleeve, fleece light, down artificial jacket

What's the point of an outdoors jacket that doesn't protect from the rain?
