(3) The 144,000, 1914, and Overlapping Generations - Conversations with a JW

I have to admit I'm still confused as to where she got the idea that a generation is 10 years. I looked it up on their website and couldn't find anything saying it.

I grew up in the 60s. My JW neighbors, once the false prophecy came out, told me I would only live to 19 y/o. It was explained to me that those who witnessed WWI would also live to see the end. If there is more than one version, that is the one that was explained to me by their son who was about my age. Every time there was an earthquake over the next several years the mother would get all excited and say "see its happening!!". Too bad we moved away in 1973.

I left in 1994, and the overlapping generations doctrine hadn’t come forth then, but I predicted there would have to be “new light” coming forth. It’s a ridiculous Hail Mary move.

I always thought a generation was 20 years. When they showed Splane with his white board and pointer trying to sell us this new “teaching” in a video at one of the meetings it sounded ridiculous to me! This was one of several things helping me in my waking up. There is a difference between generation and contemporary. Janice, I am so appreciating these videos. Sitting back and listening to that dear elderly lady trying to explain the “truth” to, and “reason” with, you, makes me wonder how/why did I fall for it back in the 70’s when I did. 😢

It literally blows my mind and hurts my head in anger for me to listen to her make excuses for them by saying “ it was a thought” the problem is they typically make their thoughts ( actually meaning guesses and speculations) a truth. I’m sorry I couldn’t take anymore after hearing her apologetics of them.🤯🤢🤮 I lost out on many things because they had a thought! It’s tantamount to pure evil when you insist people give up they’re lives to follow a THOUGHT as far as I see it. I was a born in, so it wasted my parents life ( who patiently waited for that THOUGHT to materialize, but the only thing that ended was their lives after so many decades) and wasted most of my time here in this realm. I pray to the real God now, and oh yes, I ask that I can live to see their end. I pray that most of us born ins that have woken up, lives to see their demise. To be able to WITNESS the fall of this man of lawlessness class. And it appears now, that some crumbling is starting to manifest lately. Thank God! and Praise Him. 🙏

She said there are a little over 10.000 partakers at the memorial, but in actual fact there were 20.526 partakers in 2019. The number of partakers hasn't been this high since the 1950's.

Yes they don't know how to explain it. Interesting listening. Most JWs don't actually know that The Watchtower and the Bible Students in 1914 believed the Last Days began in 1799 and they had discerned that the sign of Jesus presence started in 1874.

I get the feeling that the Org could come out with something totally outrageous and makes no sense and she would still believe it, because the Org said it. And she would be able to explain it.

I thought about the overlapping generations, and I have one argument against their re-definition of a "Generation". Seems to me, gods standard of a human generation is 40 years with a biblical example of Numbers 32:13. I'm still new at this.

The numbers are increasing, but according to their doctrine, their numbers are supposed to decrease in partakers of the emblems. Yes, there is no basis to what she is saying, many don't understand because it is not logical. This concept of overlapping generation was done by design.

The lady was incorrect re the current number of ‘anointed’.
Over the past 10-12 years it has been slowly rising from circa 8000 to now 19000.
This poses them s problem as they have always taught for 70 years that as the anointed dwindle (the remnant left on earth) it meant that Armageddon was drawing ever ever so closer..., but now when you point out that was there teaching for decades and ask ....so the numbers have more than double in the past ten years alone....what does this mean?
They get very dismissive and state usually “problem is we don’t know if those partaking are actually anointed thus the real number could be a lot less than 8000!”
As always it’s smoke and mirrors and throw in cognitive dissonance they are so afraid to call BS on the teaching and instead resort to obscurity of the facts....with even the Watchtower themselves stating in the publications that these people who are now partaking “maybe emotionally unstable”....in effect judging and questioning those who partake even within your own faith...what does Christ say?

They are all in a spin over this teaching and really don’t want to dwell on it, instead resorting to Scientology tactics of becoming a ‘lifestyle’ religion...711 outfit!

Interesting, they use the term 'this is the thought on the matter' often. She uses it here because she knows it is nonsense. She becomes extremely uncomfortable (and lacking in confidence) in the second half of this video.

She unwittingly proves that what they teach as doctrine are just 'thoughts' of the Governing Body (men) and yet all JWs must go along with these 'thoughts' or they will be disfellowshipped from Gods earthly organization.

On the other hand they say that all their teachings are bible based. This JW has had years of learning the double talk.

Fancy someone not wanting to talk about their annointment to other JWs.
