The way you anchored the stakes with more stakes was genius!

Having the appropriate guy line ready to clip to hip belt of pack - very smart to have it secured before its even out of the bag! Calling the wind a thief! I cannot support this claim enough! I would consider myself a very experienced wild camper and don't like to admit to this one! But how about the wind STEALING my £400 RAB Sleeping bag! Only had the door open a fraction and by back turned for a second and it was GONE! Was making a video as you do, and concentrating on that!! Searched for 45 mins at night but no sign of it! Slept in 2 degrees centigrade to morning (no sleep actually). Went on the hunt for it again and found it over a mile from where I had camped. No damage at all so very lucky. This is great advice from Barry, I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else. I am very careful with my gear and have seen a number of extremely random things all happen at once when camping in harsh conditions so you need a plan A, B, and C.

Some legit tips here. I never thought about securing my tent to my backpack. Maybe I have in the past during a situation but as I'm preparing for my Scottish Highlands camp it's something I've overlooked thus far.

Great wee video mate.

Maybe also carry a couple of extra guylines and a few more pegs of adequate length/surface area for the terrain.

Every camp I go on it’s blowing a gale. I always however tighten the guylines as tight as I dare. I’ve got the soulo and when they are as tight as can be that tent can take virtually any wind. No problem. I’d probably bail out at 80 mph. Nice video. Good channel. Subbed. 👍

We had some strong gusts camping on the beach the other night. Had to triple stake each corner and leave the rainfly off but managed to pull it off !

I always take at least one Outwell Tarzan rock peg with me on any camping trip. It's basically a nine-inch nail with a cross bar welded onto it, and in windy conditions it's my anchor peg that goes deep into the ground and makes sure that strong winds cant rip the tent away before the other stakes are hammered in.
I bring four Tarzans on hill camps or anywhere where strong winds are anticipated and they've never budged an inch, but I can't imagine they'd be of any use in snow, sand or loose mud (unless they're driven through to firmer ground).

I once faced a heavy rainstorm with strong wind,
Placing a flysheet is VERY IMPORTANT as it will prevent the rain from getting into the tent and channel the wind pressure instead of pressing against it. This will reduce the noise also... so it kinda works like a sail.

I might be wrong but aren't the pegs the wrong way round? So the V section should be towards the tent to create more pulling resistance against the soil and the guy loop is less likely to fray as it lies on the curved edge of the peg? Atb Andrew

Really great video, well made and very informative. subbed :) would you camp at 750m asl with 30mph gusts and a snapped pole, repaired with gorilla tape. The tent is a vango soul 300 - £50 -70. we ditched on the camp, were we right?
