Vibrato is the toughest thing to learn for singers when it doesn’t come “naturally.” Fake vibrato can very easily be a part of your style and your preference. The audience will determine if they like it or not. Do your best, work, study, learn….but don’t beat yourself up if you can’t get it.

in japanese songs we use unnatural, dramatic vibrato with the throat. Vocal shakes.. Listen to it.

May fake vibrato just comes out without forcing it.. I dont know how to correct it. There's no right place here to practice. They say im so noisy.

I can fake the up and down tone but have never had my voice naturally do vibrato! It’s so frustrating because I am pretty good with pitch but my voice is so boring😢

Is there a way to control the speed of your vibrato to make it faster or slower? An example is Barbra Streisand. Her vibrato is really fast especially in the 80s which wasn't the case earlier in her life and career

My voice naturally has a LOT of vibrato. As a kid I didn’t realize that it helped my singing any or gave my voice a specific unique feeling to it. So I actually tried to sing what I would call “Straight line singing”. Funny enough I couldn’t “sing straight” and my sexuality wasn’t straight either. Lol

The only time my vibrato comes out is when im almost out of air and i wish i had enough air to sustain the note with vibrato, yes i severely lack breathing technique.

I do have problems with Vibrato 😞 i think my Biggest problem is the tension. I am neurodivergent so tension is just part of my being. I do Clench my jaw and doesnt notice how i apply to much pressure. I do also strain my voice 😢 How to loosen up any tipps ?

I started singing by myself a long time ago, and i started creating a really bad habit of faking my vibrato (of course at the time, i didn’t know it was wrong). now its simply impossible to get rid of it, is almost automatic. I just cant differentiate the natural one from the fabricated ones.

But how then, do you sing with the vibrato that Billie Eilish sings with? I have a very natural vibrato but I asked another coach who said that we think of the vibrato as being very natural but it needs to be controlled. I love how she can sing straight on her words but at the end of the last 2-3 notes that begin to trail off with emotion she has a sort of deep vibrato that has even more technique but I can't quite dissect it to try to practice doing it. I will find a song as an example and I will tell you where I hear it the most. I wish there were a way to upload images and videos in comments.
