You can actually blame the second guy, Veritasium has a really good video on the guy but long story short: he worked for a company and he was ordered to create a fuel that was less noisy, he did but with the help of lead which he knew was toxic, when the scientific community started to raise concern on the toxicity of lead he denied it and even went in a tour with the company he worked for and at every stop he would should “how harmless it was” by drinking it (or something like that), he died because of it and it’s believed that he single handedly is responsible of making the world dumber and more violent (that’s a side effect of the long exposure to lead literally everyone in the planet has been victim of, obviously because of his creation). And this will surely make you feel safer: lead based fuels are still used today
