I was 6 yrs old when I heard this song. My dad use to be the tire man for a big oil transport company. I always went with him on calls. The drivers usually would ask if I wanted to ride with them back to the yard. I lost my father in December of 2020. I thank him for introducing me to the trucking industry. R.I.P dad! 22 years driving....and still smiling when I hear this song.

At the tail end of an era
I was taught trucking by people like “marcell”. “Talley whacker” “Tom cat” and “butter bean”
These boys were the last of a breed but the way they helped a 18 year old newbie like me will never be forgotten
I’m 62 now and have just 10 months before I retire
Will I miss the life yes and no
The driving part most definitely where it’s just you and an 80, 000 pound animal you control
But not “bosses “ who have never wheeled a Mack that say things like I’ve never driven a truck but I’ve been around them all my life and “sorry assed truck drivers “
