This Thursday will mark 25 years since the big switch occurred in Dallas/Fort Worth where KDFW ended their 45 and 1/2 year affiliation with CBS and switched to FOX Broadcasting, the same day independent station KTVT which originally was to take The WB affiliation prior to the New World Communications affiliation deal with FOX ended up as the new CBS Affiliate in Dallas/Fort Worth. KDAF ended their 8 and 1/2 year affiliation with FOX and took The WB affiliation but held on to FOX Kids since KDFW rejected it

And thus, the station changed its name to Fox 4 Texas before shortening it to simply Fox 4 in the Fall of 1996. And with the simplification of the station ident to Fox 4 in the Fall of 1996, came the newscast's name change to Fox 4 News (Weather 4 Texas became Fox 4 Weather and Sports 4 Texas became Fox 4 Sports, ALL of which have been in use SINCE).
