My father served in the Canadian Army, and took part in Operation Husky - the allied invasion of Sicily. This film is about the lead up to that, and I am very much looking forward to seeing it.

It is an incredible story, it is an incredible book. Now I shall partake in the incredible film.

The book "Operation Mincemeat" is by Ben Macintyre which you can read, and the 1950s film "The Man who Never Was" was based on the 1953 book account by Ewen Montagu, one of the intelligence officers involved. He wasn't however at the time, allowed to disclose full details, so if this film is any improvement on the amazing story delivered by the original film then it would hopefully incorporate new facts now known. I often wondered how long it would take for someone to discover this for an exciting, typical "Brit Period Film" remake as the story combines both real life espionage adventure and a deeply humane reflection on how a homeless man in despair, who thought his life too painful and meaningless to go on, inadvertently ended up playing a crucial role in the was effort anyway. We're all importantly worth something and have something to offer - and not to ever forget that; so this story is like a poignant metaphor to remind us, .

Great movie! Super acting! A fantastic story my father told me when I was very young… I still wonder how he knew it at that time.
