Anyone else notice that Tony doesn't get to have human contact before he dies? Rhodey comes up and touches him with his armor hand. Peter comes and touches him with his spider armor on. And even Pepper doesn't take her armor off of her hand. I have to believe this scene was designed on purpose this way as an homage to the origin of Iron Man. These three specific characters were the ones picked to be at Tony's side as he is dying...not Cap or Thor or Hulk (who he had a great friendship with as Bruce Banner). It was these three specific characters that were all wearing technology that Tony built. AND, Tony's body was trapped in his own creation at the end. A lot of fans may forget, and new fans don't even know, that the main story arc of Iron Man's creation way back in the 60s was that Tony needed his Iron Man suit (at least the chest piece) at all times, it kept his damaged heart beating, he literally could not take it off. This lasted a short time as a storyline, but it is a big part of Iron Man's origin. And there are alternate storylines in Marvel Comics where Tony is trapped in his armor as he nears old age and 'retirement' from the super hero life. It becomes the only thing keeping him alive. When I watch this scene over I can't help a strong feeling that it was designed specifically to pay homage to those aspects of the story in an almost subliminal way. Here is a man trapped and dying in his own technological creation and doesn't have any skin to skin human contact as he dies.
