A perfect storm for people to claim this is climate change as someone did in this video. The 1962 Columbus Day that hit the West Coast killed 49 people. This one killed 2 people. The damage to structures was far more severe in 1962. Was climate change happening 60 years ago too? Everyday the climate changes. People. Weather will always be somewhat unpredictable and there will be huge storms every few decades. This is one of them. This winter I believe will be a good year for rainfall. After 3 years of drought it is bound to be good rainfall. And yes, if you look out the window tomorrow in California it will be sunny. The climate

I’m in San Rafael, just over the hill from Kentfield, and the Kentfield rain measurements are much more accurate for this area (Gerstle Park) than “San Rafael” totals, which are measured at the Civic Center, where rain is always much lighter. I estimated 12” of rain since the storm began, and I still think that’s pretty accurate. We had heavy flooding all day, there’s a huge cleanup to be done.

I’m amazed that the power is still on after how incredibly powerful this storm has been. It went out last night some time, and the lights flickered all afternoon, but so far, so good. I have enough to deal with, a flooded lower story and a plaster ceiling collapsing. I think I lost an area of shingles in the wind at some point, the water is pouring through the roof.
