Thanking y'all for the questions and for the people who answered. I am an Apple guy myself ( Windows folks don't grill me. I know you disagree ) but I am changing from Xbox to Playstation. Only ever owned a PS2 but figured the graphics on my Mac are great and id love to minimize my entertainment area to just my desk. I don't have cable only a few subscription services like Hulu Disney Netflix etc so that cut the cable bill now hoping with a PS5 ( Which is backwards compatible with PS4 ) and PS3 ( Which original editions are PS2 compatible ) <-- Playstation people correct me on this if I'm wrong. New to the PS world but researching. I am hoping to not need a huge space for a TV and entertainment system ( Something small for when some friends come over to hang out but nothing crazy ) Will do Xbox Game Pass for Gears and Halo.

PS. I am switching from Xbox to playstation because PS has the same games as Xbox but also has very cool exclusive titles I've never played which is a lot since I played PS2 back in the day and haven't touched a PS system since and the only real reason I want Xbox is for their games like Gears an Halo so I figured a subscription to them would be cheap and I can remove a lot of junk out of the living area that way. Trying to minimize enough to get into tiny home living but didn't want to lose all my entertainment haha.

why is the capture card necessary? i thought the adapter would do it alone. the hdmi output would be converted to usb c type and then show on screen? or no? why does hdmi need to change to usb, which then plugs into the usb plug and converts to usb c? is this additional extra step 100% necessary? thank you! new to this
