The protein in egg white basically functions as a glue. Before oil paint, painters used egg tempera paint, where instead of oil, egg was used as the binding medium. Painting is nothing else than gluing (or bonding) pigments to a canvas or panel, with oil being a very slow drying type of glue (which makes oil paint so popular), and egg being a faster drying agent. Many traditional glues were made of protein. There are gelatine ones from animal skin or bone marrow (I think) and milk can be used to treat cracks in porcelain. Anyway that explains why it had such amazing hold 😊

Styler and protein treatment in one!! Your cut frames your face so well. ❤ This is an oldie in the AA community. I remember my mom and grandma’s using egg on their hair. Absolutely doubles as a great styler for a day. But if you disturb the set you’re gonna have flakey white pieces popping up. Especially around the edges. IYKYK

It is so much easier to apply to your hair when it is a foam and it seems to permeate the hair better instead of sliding off the hair strands.
None of our punk/goth/alt hairstyles were achieved professionally back in the day but were instead achieved by a friend the vast majority of the time. I somehow became the resident goth/punk/alt hairdresser/stylist and we went through an inordinate number of eggs 😅
