When I was about 19, I lived in Wellington and went to go get a coffee one morning. I had earphones in while waiting at some traffic lights, and when I looked around me I double took cos Steven Adams was just there. I loudly said "oh sh*t! Hey bro" and he laughed a bit and said "hey bro" back. The lights went off and we were walking the same direction, so I was like "what are you up to?" Haha
He said "im off to the supermarket" and I was like "sick man, enjoy!" And he just said "thanks bro, have a good one" real deadpan. He seemed like a real nice guy haha

In my opinion, the vast majority of international basketball players are authentic, personable, grounded, and intelligent. Steven Adams, in particular, is loyal to his teammates and simply a great guy.

As a Rockets fan, what he said at the end is why i love him so much. When i watch our younger players play, I can see the impact/influence he has on them as a mentor that the coaching staff just might not be able to have had. I really hope they re-sign him because his value is so immense, and we're lucky have a guy like that around.

Waited a long time for a kiwi to crack the NBA and couldn't be prouder of the way Steven conducts himself both on and off the court, such an unconventional trajectory and career to/in the NBA, but he is an amazing ambassador for both Aotearoa and the game of basketball, great to see him back to is best with Houston, but I would love to see him starting somewhere again!

I live 1000's of miles from NZ but watch a lot of NZ comedians and shows. I like the sense of humour. Stevo embodies that for me. Everytime he gets praised he deflects it away. Always choosing to defuse things with a smile when he could just beast most of tge league. Not many like him in the NBA
