Libyans burn tyres in protest over Israel meeting

Hundreds of people protested in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, after news broke that their foreign minister, Najla al-Mangoush, had held meetings with Israeli officials.

Demonstrators gathered in front of the headquarters of the foreign ministry and the prime minister, burning tyres and chanting.

The leader of Libya’s government said he had suspended the minister a day after Israel revealed that its chief diplomat met her last week.
