Thank God for men! I need one of these for my Sewing channel, but if I tried to make one I'd chop up myself! I'm planning to buy a desk, and then buy a sheet of plyboard, and get someone to cut and attach it for me.

Twelfth! I know I'm late (this was meant to be last fridays video), but three days of migraines laid me up last week. There will be another project video on Friday.

Hi Paul. What about your leg vise? I perhaps missed that you have finished that but I am looking forward to know how the linear bearing works for you.

I realize this is 2+ years old and likely have your leg situation figured out, but on the off chance you don't or if someone is going to follow your idea (such as myself! 😉) how about for each wing get two lengths for conduit and at each end of each length make a 90° bend. Say about 10 inches or so. Then with the legs laying on the wing as though in the folded closed position, the legs are side by side with the bends going in opposite directions. Similar to looking like an I-beam or ironing board legs, placed along the edge your legs are on now.
Drill and bolt legs together in two or three spots, use a couple of conduit clamps for attaching to a wall ( the "u" shared ones) to hold the top turns to the wings so the legs fold up or down as needed. Lightwieght, strong, good looking and cheap.
Or you could also just take a length of conduit and make one large block letter style U shape and attach to swing up or down with either full length contact on the floor like a "U" or an upside down version with just 2 legs showing.
Just some suggestions.
Thanks for the cabinet idea though. It's a great start for me!
Peace

Have you considered using the aluminum legs from an inexpensive card table? Might be cheesium grade but would be light weight.

Horn make the cabinet like this but they have the leg like you said on the angle (piano hinge from the main body with a wheel that takes the weight when folded out on diagonal to support the weight of the table when up) but have a caster wheel to support the weight is really stable

Just curious, what brand and type of saw blades do you use on your sawstop contractor? Nice work by the way!

Hi Paul, Where do you get this plywood from? You mentioned that it is BC 18mm but it looked better than the rubbish we get from Bunnings!

Definitely would've made the cabinet in a more open design with 3/4" (18mm) solid pine. 1/4" (6mm) plywood for the middle and the wings would get the heavy 3/4" (18mm). However, one type of sheet is easier and quicker to work with.

in post-soviet countries it's called "стол-книжка", "a book-table", but the legs are fixed to the cabinet and the axles are vertical, so it's more like a swiveling post
