Siri is a mess. And everyone who's used Siri knows it. In this short video I rant about all the ways Siri fails. Not my normal video.

Fantastic! Nice to know I'm not going crazy. Love that you didn't waste our time with reasons!

Love the Space Odyssey ending. I have had a few problems with SIRI also. Driving and requesting directions, phone calls etc. I hope it will make improvements with SIRI. Thank you for your video on this matter. I thought I was doing something wrong with my questions to SIRI. Sad but glad it’s not me.
I enjoy your channel!
Thanks

So true. I’m 70 and fairly tech literate. Siri, chats, etc are impossible. I switched to Apple from a career in Windows. I thought it would be better in retirement. Everything you said is true. I try non Apple apps and that is even worse. You finally get something you want and then lose it. There is so much potential for seniors who are alone and just failure and disappointments.

Rich, it's not just Siri. For me Alexa can be just as challenging. One day she'll honor my request to open/start YouTube tv but then the next time she says she can't do it. Similar negative reaction when I ask her to add an item to a specific shopping list. (Kudos where kudos belong... she has 'turn on the tv' down pat!) Maybe if I used Siri more often I'd be as frustrated as you but Alexa is my go-to assistant. They both come in handy in my day-to-day living. Appreciate your channel and all the info you share with this technology challenged senior. :o)

Hi Rich! Siri is sometimes frustrating. That was so funny you made a reference to the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. Great video! Kindness, Teresa

Thank you for this. In my 70’s and sometimes struggle with technology and have been wondering what I was doing wrong 😊

All great points which is why I seldom use it. Spell check is getting to be quite the annoying thing too for me!!

Case in point writing this lol

So happy you did this. I use the iPhone with voiceover, and I rarely use Siri. I also got The 4S in 2012

lol! While I watched this video suddenly Siri replied “Sorry, I can’t do that!” …from the sound of your voice on TV. Couldn’t help but laugh.

Oh, the irony! I can't listen to this video on my iMac without having Siri summoned every time you speak the word.

I truly appreciate your honesty in this video about Siri…. I never ever was a fan of Siri’s …. Thank you again 🙏

Hahhhaaha. Yes! It’s like suddenly l’m speaking Klingon. I have the same watch, I adored it. Now I can’t trust it. It tells me it’s time to stand when I’ve only just sat down. One day it was all so bad I wondered if I was having a stroke and slurring my speech. Not meant to be funny, I honestly wondered for a minute.

So far i actually havent had issues. But. I just ask it to read or respond to texts while i drive. An occasional calendar setting

We’ve come to the conclusion that she hates my wife….. and the feeling is mutual! They certainly don’t get along. Many times she gets …”who’s speaking” or you have to set it up in the home app…even though it’s set up already. I had to stop the video several times so I could tell Siri to stop playing…not once did she ask who is speaking? You nailed it with the Space Odyssey reference. The look on “Dave’s” face is so often the face we present when listening to Siri respond to something.

Absolutely true, Siri can be frustrating beyond belief. And as someone else commented, Alexa is a lot smarter.

I’m fairly new to iPhones, but in the last 5 months, since I bought my iPhone, I’ve noticed the same issues you mention (glad to know it’s not necessarily me). For all of its problems, however, Siri is still way ahead of Google. I had an android for many years and was totally fed up with saying, “Hey Google” and getting absolutely no response. It was totally worthless. Siri may not always give me satisfying answers, but it at least it responds. I’m very happy with it, but look forward to future improvements.

Same here, we were in our car and asked for directions for a restaurant in our area, she gave us the same restaurant in Florida, we’re in TX we even told her the city and state we were in, frustrating for sure.

Love the ending! I'm so glad that I'm not imagining things with Siri

I have to agree. I have to carefully word every request/command to Siri so she/he understands what I’m directing. The rumor mill is that Siri is set to get a massive overhaul with AI in iOS/iPadOS 18, and that Apple has been working on this for a while because when they release it, they want it to shock everyone and leave the competition in the dust. Like all things Apple, they wear these things close to the chest and are more secretive than the NSA. And I like the nod to 2001 at the end, an all-time classic.
