How To Make Your Car Wink (Pop-Up Headlight Mod)

I wired my car's popup headlights to wink, every time on command, and this video shows you how to do it! This method of winking doesn't require you to unplug a headlight motor and allows you to operate the headlights as normal, until you want to wink. This should work on any car with pop up headlights that are controlled with individual motors, including Miatas, 240sxs, RX7s, supras, and more.

It took me a year to get around to this after my last comment. The most difficult bit was finding the bloody wires after I fed them through the grommet in the firewall. After that easy especially since you'd already identified the correct wire to cut and splice the switch wiring into. Thanks, works great.

Back in the day I used to see people that had a switch that used to make it wink back and forth continuously on each side it was awesome and the late night car shows

Sweet video. I tried this on my 91 miata but it works opposite of winking. When the lights are up and flip the switch in the car nothing happens but if i flip the switch and then turn the lights on, one stays down while the other pops up. Then flipping the switch again the second one pops up.

Gonna do this once I get a Porsche 944.

It'd look hilarious because the 944 looks a little shell-shocked with the headlights up.

I cut my ground on that side but the headlight still goes up and down, any idea why? I have a 91 Miata

can you do this but have two buttons one for each headlight as well as having the original button do both?

Would this work if the lights are down. Flip the switch and then pressed the pop up button. Would this only make one go up? Or do they both have to be up for it to work.
