NIH SciBites: Drug Development for Lung Scarring

Показать описание
Just like a surgery or serious injury can leave a permanent scar on your skin, certain diseases and harmful substances in the air can scar the lungs, which makes it hard to breath. Lindsey Jay, a postbaccalaureate IRTA in the Intramural Research Program at the National Institutes of Health, studies a potential medication her research lab created to treat lung scarring, also known as fibrosis. If that therapy helps animals with lung fibrosis without causing too many side effects, it could one day be used to help people with lung fibrosis.
