Tara Brown was a 24 year old woman who lived in Queensland.
With a loving family by her side and a supportive circle of friends, Tara's journey was set to be one filled with promise and fulfilment.
But In 2011, Tara began to become more distant…
Concerned and curious, her friends began to inquire about her whereabouts. Little did they know that Tara's absence was due to a chance encounter with someone new. His name was Lionel Patea.

RIP to Tara. She did what she could to try to protect herself and her baby. Poor woman. I have a friend that was heavily abused while pregnant with her eldest daughter. She fled the relationship and our state to get away from her baby's father.

The police are a bunch of clowns for seeing these chilling messages and not at least investigating to prevent a crime from happening and most definitely save Tara's life from this psychopath

I can't believe that the police told her there was nothing they could do. She had been physically assaulted. That's already a crime. If the police had done their job, Tara may very well be still alive. RIP Tara.

I live in Queensland & remember this case well. Patea was such a cowardly & brutal animal, while Tara was beautiful inside & out. I hope he's getting some prison justice.

For anyone believing Tara deserved this:

No man or woman starts a relationship thinking, "What a bad boy/girl, I hope they hurt me, isolate me, and maybe kill me."

Abusers work their way in with love, and once you're in deep the mask comes off and the abuse starts. If kids are involved there are more victims to consider. And lots of men and women aren't believed so it's even harder to leave with no support.

At least one person you know has been a victim/survivor of some kind of abuse, they just don't wave that info around.

Police: "We can't help."

The interaction with Tara and the police kinda just goes to prove that the police are not out there to protect you, they are out to pick up the pieces of what's left of you and probably nab the one who ended you.
