The reason why they are in the ice berg is Bc in the first episode sang runs away and gets caught in a storm so he goes into the avatar state to protect him and apa then 100 years later katana and sokka find him and breaks the ice berg

Since you don’t know how that connects to avatar the weird iceberg thing, I’ll tell you so the iceberg in the beginning of the episode well, at least in the first episode, the two other main characters find that and then the girl uses her powers I guess and opens it on accident

So basically in a state that island because he was the avatar so then the storm happened in them his avatar state kicked in and then they crashed into the water and operas behind him frozen ice so that’s not the zero point but it’s technically I am still in his avatar state keeping them “alive”

Ok so heres the reason that aang and appa is in the iceberg: Aang left the air temple and flew away, he was caught in a really bad storm and later him and apparently fell into the water and he was in a life or death situation that triggered the avatar state and was trapped in the iceberg for 100 years

In the story, he runs away from his town and find himself in a bad storm in the ocean and he sinks and he enters the avatar site and freezes himself in ice ball for 100 years and come and find him
