I'm working on a game, and am going to vlog about it. I'm not planning on doing kickstarter or any other kind of crowdfunding, but, I'm going to need to do an intro video for my vlog series. It occurred to me that this wouldn't be that much different than a kickstarter pitch video. Except for the funding part. You basically have to sell yourself, to get people interested in your project or your video series. So I'm starting to watch videos on how to make a successful pitch video. It should even be better than how to make a decent YouTube video, as most crowdfunding campaign's goals are to get funded. So that's why I'm here. (Granted you might not even see this since this is 7 years old, but still).

Agree with all your comments. But I would add one more, and that is that the background in the video is uncluttered as that's a distraction. Wouldn't take much to rig up a background on a few lighting stands.

I work in a retail store, (for 10 weeks) and the comment has been I don't smile enough; I give a smile when I greet people - much like my profilr pic, and engage them in conversation, but I suspect what they really mean is I don't 'enthuse' enough about a product. If I know the product, I can talk - in my normal quiet voice - about what it can do for them. I cannot "gush" about a product as to me that can seem equally insincere. (And trying to sound confident about a product you know absoultely nothing about is also a hurdle)

But overall, I'm with you 100% when it comes to online video.

These are things that are assumed without even thinking about it. Smile, be enthusiastic etc, etc....

By the way: I like your message but, I respectfully disagree with you about "eye contact" as a barometer of trust.

1.) Liars can look us in our eyes AND LIE and
2.) Two of my next door neighbors are blind and, thus, cannot make eye contact ... (though I wouldn't trust them to drive me, I do trust their business ethics more than some of the tens of thousands who've made eye contact with over the past 40 years...)
