The deeper they drill, the higher the temperature gets. Kola well project in Russia's Murmansk Oblast was stopped at 40, 230ft due to high temperatures of 356F which was damaging equipment. Drilling lasted from 1970-198. Drilling technology has advanced since 1970, I am eager to see how the Chinese will get through the difficulties the Soviet encountered.

This shouldn’t be any more risky than the Bertha Rogers hole in the United States or the kola ion Russia. Although I’m not fully aware of the specific risks of either of those, I know they are both 40-50 years old and nothing catastrophic happened.
