In the cozy loft at K.E.V.A. in Sofia, Bulgaria we experienced a captivating evening with Lisbon-based band Malotira, as they took us on a journey through the vibrant sounds of Mediterranean and Balkan music. With musicians hailing from Italy, UK and Chile, Malotira served us a delightful musical medley akin to a Balkan mixed grill, a lively colourful Mediterranean cocktail, and a finale of strong, aromatic Italian coffee. Traditional melodies and songs in Italian, Greek, Albanian, and Bulgarian filled the air.
Following the concert, their accordionist, performed under the artistic alias ManiFiesta, manifesting his DJ set, and offering a glimpse into the essence of Maniacal Fiesta.
Malotira perform an extensive repertoire from Greek, Italian, Slavic, Sephardic and Romani traditions. With music in more than 15 languages and dialects, the band creates a powerful fusion that shows how music offers space for dialogue and cultural exchange.
