I have additional info I found while back saying that if XRP is used on payment platform it’s not capital gains.

I would assume any trading on exchanges as retail trader would get capital gains but then it might get its own classification.

If XRP and/or ANY of the Crypto Currencies (Digital Assets) are labeled "Currencies", then NO there should NOT be ANY taxes. This is what happened in the 90s when Kuwait's Currency got devalued for a couple of weeks and then it JUMPED up to make Millionaires and Billionaires of those who invested in the currency. Funny thing is right before they Jumped the Value up on the Kuwaiti Dinar, they said they weren't looking to revalue it for at least another year or 2 and then the next day, BOOM! From a tenth of a penny to around $3.45. There are some that still say the Iraqi Dinar is going to have that same Revaluation in the Very Near Future. Just like our Ole' Friend, XRP!

And let's be honest, many of the XRP investors are already in the Millionaire/Billionaire Club, and they're not going to want to pay taxes BUT they know the people and the ways to make it non-taxable. PLUS this would be an enormous boost to the US Economy. So over here, we will remain VERY optimistic!
