Sovana - Etruscan Tombs

At the time of the Etruscans, Sovana was a thriving city of economic and cultural importance. All that is left of this flowering period are the great tombs, which are located a short distance from the town center. However, only two of the four necropolises can be visited. It is the necropolis "Felceto" and the necropolis "Sopra Ripa". Both are on the road towards San Martino sul Fiora.
The Felceto necropolis was erected north of the creek Calesine. In the wooded area long rows of simple rock tombs can be seen. In between, however, four particularly significant tombs stand out. That are:

3. Tomba Pola
4. Tomba del Tifone
