SHE'S FINALLY HEREEEE i know it's a tad inappropriate to post this on christmas but i figured it'd be a good way to end the year

my first full beetlejuice animatic.... and my first full animatic since like. february LOL
this year has been a shitstorm if im being quite honest and it didn't help that i was constantly creatively drained, i'm still shocked that i was even able to do this tbh
regardless, i really hope you enjoy this cause it was a nice exercise/a nice return to animatics (shockingly it wasnt at all stressful???? although it did take 3 times slower than animatics normally do whoops--)

i don' t want to compare animatics, but as someone who has lost a parent and the other parent has reacted in pretty much the same manner as lydia's father, this!! this is exactly how it feels and you portrayed it perfectly. the frustration and anger and grief and hopelessness is all there and you perfectly portray it. thank you for not just making her sad like all the other animatics, bc that's not what this song is abt.

It really gives an incredible insight into how she handled her mother's death and how her relationship with her father changed. I really love the way you portrayed Lydia. This song is both sad & angry, and I think you showed her emotions very well. One headcanon I read once and has stuck with me since is one where Lydia shares her name with her mom (instead of her being named Emily). They both are "Lydia Deetz", making her both dead and alive in a deeper and more literal sense than presented in the musical. The fact that Lydia never addresses her dead mom by name in the musical, plus the lines "I'm your clone" and "whatever it takes to make him say your name", also take on a whole new meaning from this and I think it's pretty neat

I really love how you draw Lydia. She looks so much like the way I’ve seen people draw Veronica from Heathers. Which is fitting, because the original actress from the movies was Winona Ryder.
