My great grandmother's older sister married a guy and never had kids. They owned a house together and another couple also lived in the house with them and they also never had any kids. This was circa 1895-1950. The two couples always lived in the same house and around 1940 they all moved to Florida together. Then in the 1950's my aunt died some years before I was born. By then my great grandmother had already passed. So my great grand aunt kept journals and they ended up with my grandmother as her closest surviving relative. My grandmother left them to my Dad and they ended up in my Mom's attic. When Mom Moved she said I could have the contents of the attic and I was a bit of a pack rat so I took it all including the journals. That was 20 years ago. About five years ago I finally got around to reading the journals. Turns out my aunt and the the woman from the other couple shared one bedroom and my uncle, her husband shared a bedroom with the man of the other couple and while my great grand aunt was not explicit, it is clear she and her husband were both in gay relationships and the marriages were both only for show.
