Angry young climate change activists call for 'radical change' marching through Glasgow
Показать описание
Children and infants were among the tens of thousands marching through Glasgow on Friday (November 5) demanding radical action from the U.N. climate conference in the city.
As the summit focused on youth issues, children like 12-year-old Aina, were on the streets calling for revolution.
"By 2030 things will have already gone really dramatic," Aina told Reuters, "I think there needs to be a revolution before anything happens."
Youth campaigners have been sceptical about political will among leaders at the conference, with teen climate activist Greta Thunberg telling a rally earlier in the week that politicians gathered there are "pretending" to take people's futures seriously.
"The government has been sleeping on climate change and there needs to be a call for more radical measures," said 20-year-old Luca Eck.
Both British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and COP26 President Alok Sharma have referenced the anger and concern of young people about climate change, and urged world leaders to consider their future in their deliberations.
