Honda Odyssey 2015 timing belt kit replacement

It sounds like a rod knock but hopefully this timing belt kit fixes the problem

Definitely the timing belt tensioner. Went through this exact situation. Sound usually goes away in a couple minutes. The job took about 4 hours from start to finish. The stupid engine mount bracket on the passenger fender is probably the hardest part of the whole job!

We’ll! Hearing the first 30 seconds, I’ll assure you it’s the timing belt tensioner. I’ve had to many Honda odyssey’s not to know by now lol

Can confirm you will need a gnarly impact and one of those special sockets to remove crank bolt. I used my Dewalt 900b and even with a regular impact socket it wouldn't budge. Slipped on the beefy socket and off in 2 seconds. Took me 10 hours start to finish with lots of breaks. It was a bear accessing all the little nuts. Rounded the head off the 4mm bolt on the idler pulley below the water pump and could not remove it making water pump removal insanely difficult. Many things I would do differently next time. An impact ratchet would be a game changer accessing all of the timing cover bolts. I marked belt location with a paint marker, matched it to the new belt and installation was a breeze. Save your time being careful and just rip out the splash guard clips they're all going to break anyway

Did you have to remove one of the motor mounts and do we have to support it from the oil pan below with a jack?

Collapsed hydraulic timing belt tensioner. NEVER REUSE A HYDRAULIC TENSIONER!! It's temping since they make up half the cost of a timing belt kit.

Dewalt Impact 1200 ft would rip that right off
