This Roland drum machine is a sleeper if I've ever seen one.

My first drum machine! That lil guy's got a soft spot in my heart. Nice find, man!

The 626 is really just a great drum sequencer with drum sounds inside as an added bonus.

My (TR626) 1st drum machine. I also bought the DX7 IIFD, and Alesis MMT-8 sequencer in 1988 on credit....

I absolutely adore the way old music gear looks, especially that yellowish white color of it.

I used it for years. it was one of many drum machines that I purchased and I loved it.

Loved this. I've had many drum machines but this and the TR707 just had a certain "something" 🖤

I've done many Major Recordings using the 626. It's even great for triggering sounds from other machines as well. I still have mine.❤️

I love this generation of music tech. I recently had to give up a super old Yamaha keyboard of the same era (beyond repair) and I'm gonna miss it forever.

I love using an Arturia KeyStep Pro tp sequence my drums. The sequencer is fantastic. It has probably for each step. So you can have a single bar pattern with variation. You can do random tom fills by having 8th note toms set to a 50% probability. That way you get a different tom pattern every time. And of course the KSP does pattern chaining. It's really convenient to have a basic drum groove saved in the KSP. Then I can use with any drum machine or other drum sound source. I like to send the same pattern to multiple drum sound sources. I then mix the two drums on my console.

I like old drum machines. I have a Roland R-8M rack unit. It's FANTASTIC. Highly recommend. I also have a Yamaha RX17 and Kawai R-50e. I got the Kawai because it was used by a number of industrial bands. There are some darn good vintage options.

Late 80s in high school, friend had a Tr-626 and I brought my guitar and he had some korg synth and we were trying to work out a cover version of ‘Terrible Lie’ and I was impressed with how far we were getting with the sounds and arrangement with so little, I wanted to use the individual outs to hook up like distortion pedals but we didn’t have all that, but overall a great price of kit

Like many in the coms, I had the 505. It especially saw a lot of usage with my Ensoniq Mirage rev2 sampler (synced to the EM sequencer). It later found a lot of productive use with my Roland D-70 & Korg M3R drum kits. Put some batteries in it, connect an 8' midi cable, recline in the comfortable blanket covered office chair w a mug of NewCastle (& sometimes a bit o' Buddha for additional inspiration) ... and it's "the needs must when the devil drives" ...

Loved my 626 - snares and cymbals had nice grit to them (especially the china type cymbal) - some good times composing on that thing

I had one of those. Taught me so much about drum programming

I love the simplicity of it, sometimes drum machines get a bit too complicated for their own good.

I had the little brother tr-505 in these days and was quite happy with it...

I had an SP808 from Roland as my first recording/audio gear…. I got that piece like 25 years ago, still works, and still in my possession.

I would actually say the tr505 is the most overlooked/"hated on" of the tr series...my opinion..but before the "lo-fi" craze..I used to see em for 100$ or less all the time..had one for awhile and sold it for like 50$, along with an old Yamaha psr, to some teenagers who fell in love with em while jamming out at my old music store job...
