I have spent the good part of almost 2 yrs researching the depths of new age and mysticism coming into the American church. I have spent hours reading and researching the roots. I lived in the east as a missionary for several yrs, so maybe a recognize it, discern it more readily. I thank those who had the boldness to call this what it is, at its roots, and at the root of the authors works, not Christian, or let me be more clear, another Gospel, another Jesus. I urge all to be good Bereans, research yourselves, if you do so with an open heart, with the Holy Spirit, He will lead you into all truth. Thank you to the note about not calling to repentance, you are absolutely right, I was trying to put my finger on it in the other works I have researched by her...and that was it! P.S. there is always real cheese in the rat trap☺

The first two chapters of Ann's book gave me assurance that she most certainly is a Christian. She understands both the logos and the very loving and compassionate heart of God. Learning the meaning of Eucharisteo (grace, thanksgiving, joy) was a turning point in my life as a Christian.

I appreciate this encouragement to keep trusting in God's provision. I believe she assumed she was speaking to mature Christians at Founders Week who need to step into greater trust in new areas of our lives. In view of the tribulation in our future, this is a valuable message.

Thank you for your poetry. I am traveling to Sequoia National Park to visit 'The General'. You are refreshing to me. May God keep blessing all you do! <3

I am so thankful for Ann's beautiful message yesterday. It touched my heart and reinforced what God has been speaking to me about in the past several weeks through other speakers, like a message I recently heard by Mark Jobe on the radio. I don't want to believe the lie of scarcity, but trust in God's abundance. He is enough and He will always provide me with all that I need for whatever he places in my path! She is a poet, but she is also a theologian that communicates God's Truth in a unique way.

I've never heard Ann Voskamp speak before and heard good things about her so I was eager to hear her speech. I can understand where some people might have a hard time grasping what she is saying. Speaking in prose and metaphors she weave's a message comparing a tree that has gone through many trials and fires with people who often go through difficult times or "fires". We can feel like our life is in ashes. But those trees like us grow stronger for having gone through those trials. Good things can come through those trials. We as Christians can live an abundant life through Christ. I think it's a wonderful metaphor!!!  This is a wonderful message for a lot of people. I heard her talk about Jesus who sacrificed his life and quote scripture. I don't know how anyone can say she's a false teacher at least not based on this talk. Her message is not "concrete" but more abstract. Some people need more concrete messages. Just because she's different and you don't understand what she's saying doesn't mean there are'nt many people who do understand her. She's very intelligent and has done a beautiful job. For people to say she isn't Christian is wrong. No one can judge her.

Certainly what Ann talks about I have had in my thoughts - and she expressed it wonderfully using her gift. Great material. I'll use for our community group to watch and discuss.

This Art of Speaking in Parables is a form that is lost to the fast food public. It is necessary to hear the the entire story to understand that she is talking about having hope out of despair and that God can provide grace in the midst of Suffering. This is rare to experience our Awesome God in this way.

Here's the thing, no one has to jump through hoops to 'prove' belief. How lovely–freedom.

In both her interviews and writings, Ann insists that a person's greatest saving grace is having a heart of gratitude, rather than repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. She employs and perpetually repeats the Greek word for thanksgiving: "eucharisteo". This is her mantra. And this (not Christ) is what she emphasizes is the key to unlocking God's gracious gift of finding joy right where you are.

How does she know that the new star appearing in the East was in the constellation of Capricorn when no one knows what year or time Jesus was born? (I think it was not a star, but the Shekinah)

Why does she say Jesus is born bald? Many newborns have hair.

And this statement starting about 1:19 about the incarnation:
"The insanity of the Creator of the cosmos dwindling down to earth, and his trembling slick appendages and one damp fist unfolds on the planet he himself breathed into existence"

How did the people at Moody Bible Institute let this pass? How do her fans deal with this statement about the insanity of God?

Does anyone else hear this at 1:19? I listened 6 times, and it sounds like: 'the insanity of the creator of the cosmos dwindling down to earth?" God cannot be insane. This is really blasphemous.

I'm not saying she's a false teacher but that's only because I'm not really sure what she's saying. This was really, really strange. I'm open for correction but this was kinda the antithesis of clarity. I'm not a real artsy feelsy person so maybe that's the problem.

Why didn't Lutzer push the ejection button! This is abominable.

2 Timothy 4:2 ESV
[2] preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

Any "preaching" done (ignoring the fact that she is a woman and cannot preach in front of the Church) that isn't all about the word of God is a complete waste of time.

How does she know the star was in the constellation of Capricorn when no one knows what year Jesus was born? And that it was a real star? And what about Jesus being born "barefoot and bald." Bald? Lots of babies have hair at birth.

The "insanity of God?" God has no insanity. Jesus was born under the sign of Capricorn? And what do Chinese astronomers have to do with anything?

This is certainly beautiful prose with a lyrical and melodic cadence, it makes no sense and actually smacks of blasphemy and adding to scripture. She assumes her senses give truth to a scene and a context she is too impoverished spiritually to understand. Only the spiritually impoverished can arrogantly craft prose that lies with beauty ~ isn't that the task of Satan?

I honestly and thankfully have no comprehension of her supposed prosaic verse. May God be merciful.
