Looking at the 40 million seniors who are classified as economically vulnerable, then there’s about 8 million seniors who have just a single income and no one else on which to rely. Many women outlive their husbands and rely on Social Security as their sole source of income. Some seniors never have had kids, or their kids live far away or are estranged.
