Finding points of intersection between a line and a circle

Tweeks, you can just take the absolute value of the negative number and find the squareroot of that, adding an "i" at the end. For example, the square root of -81 would be the square root of 81, but written as 9i ("i" standing for imaginary).

b.Calculate the distance between the points A and B
c.Find the equation of the tangents at A and B, and hence determine where the tangents meet.

If I'm right (and you should check this) that situation corresponds to a line crossing the x and y axes OUTSIDE the circle. There's also a third case of a zero square root (i.e. a double root) that can arise and that corresponds to a grazing or tangent line of the circle.
