DIY is a big money saver. You can turn basic plain black pieces into OOAK goth pieces with just a little DIY. Add bits of lace, extra zippers, studs, patches, stencil a design with fabric paint, etc.

I often find a ton of velvet at thrift stores and it's usually in every single type of article of clothing. Now I have a velvet dress, a velvet skirt, and two velvet shirts. If you can't tell I have a velvet addiction and I've had to start stopping myself from buying more whenever I am at the thrift store.
Another thing to be aware with velvet is that it's a very visible, dust magnet. It's picked-up so much dust from around my home that I could actually peel off the mystery lint with just my hand

Buying on sites such as Shein, Dresslink or Wish can also be helpful. Just make sure you aren’t buying dupes of certain alternative brands (even though I was guilty in the past for doing so). Wish often sells Killstar replicas and Alchemy Gothic. Also trading with friends, shopping in their closet (like I did with you ^.^) or hand-me-downs can be quite fun.

eBay, Goodwill, Plato's Closet (i you are local, if not, ANY second hand shop or ones that are more "trendy" will do.) I find plenty of stuff at places that are "trendy'. Sure, I get funny looks and get treated like dirt (by the employees and other customers) but the joke's on them-I'm USING them for my own personal gain and wallet health XD!!
I also sew, DIY, and alter a lot of things I find, either if it doesn't fit in a flattering way or if the item is a bit plain, I GOTHIFY it! XD
