Allianz Parque, popularly known in its early days as Arena Palestra Itália or Arena Palmeiras, is a multipurpose arena built to host shows, concerts, corporate events and, mainly, football matches for Palmeiras, its owner, who entered into a contract for construction, operation and innovative management with WTorre to completely renovate their old stadium. The new arena was built by the company WTorre Properties/Arenas, from the WTorre Group, where the traditional Palestra Itália Stadium was located, also popularly known as Parque Antarctica.
The arena has one of the most modern multipurpose spaces in the country, and its stadium meets FIFA standards, accrediting itself to host the most relevant sporting tournaments. With construction started in 2010, it was completed in November 2014. In February 2015, the stadium was elected, by popular vote, the "stadium of the year 2014" by the English website “Stadium DataBase”.
