Thanks for this. I've been hitting this bug randomly and didn't realise there was a specific, repeatable cause. It really does need fixing by Roland, but I won't be holding my breath for that to happen.

I bought an rc-505 a few months ago and I also experienced this bug. Thanks for this vid. I also have a few workarounds:
1. You can create the first 1-measure loop-- just don't record it directly. Create a blank track (edit track, choose 1 measure and press stop-play at same time). Then overdub on this track to create your beat. Next, when you record the longer second track (which is set to 'free') it won't do the blinking bug.
2. Another way is simply to do as you would do, record the first 1-measure loop directly. Then record the second track (which is set to 'free'), once you get the green blinking, stop both tracks. then hit play on both tracks again and you won't see the blinking again.
3. As mentioned in vid, just record 2-bars as your first track.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. It explained the issue perfectly. One that had tripped me up mid stream and had me quite worried.

one other "work around".. when its doing the blinking. thing..hit stop all... then .. start all.. and the blinking and what was recorded on the blinking track will be fine.. one other thing i noticed is this doesnt happen to me on blank "templates" only certain ones like i went to one and a track that had previously had a really long section on it is always the one that 'glitches' (i delete the previous to start clean slate) but i feel maybe thats what causes the glitch, I could be wrong.. but i really only wanted to state if this happens live a stop/start all will free the track from the blinking.. i sometimes may be playing over the loops so its not complete silence when i start stop all but alot of peope start start all for dramtic effect and beat drops anyway.

I use the "Set loop length to two bars, hold stop, press play" method to create perfect blank loops instantly. Obviously, you can use whatever length you want.

btw - this blinking situation 2:56 happens to me accidentally. Can it be turned off? - I would like it to record immediately and not to count the measure....sometimes it is really annoying, when I start recording but my button blinking one measure free :-/

Ha, I just signed up on the facebook group for exactly this reason. Although I already knew these "work arounds".

Another one, which is a good way to do it, is to change the "Rhythm:BEAT" TO "2/4". That way a loop of 4 beats is two bars, and problem averted.

Did roland ever fix this with the firmware? I'm still having this problem in 2023!!

Good thorough explanation of the bug. Definitely frustrated me when I first realized it’s there.

You can also just opt to not use the click track at all, and then you can make your first loop 1 bar with no issues. However that doesnt allow you to control your tempo precisely.

I wish Roland would address this bug and give us a fix.

Hey, you can create a 2 bar loop of silence really quickly: you set your track with edit on 2 bars, then create the loop by pressing the stop and the record button at the same time ;) And by the way you can set a quick delete setting to delete the tracks really quickly by pressing the stop button 2 times :)

@VJFRANZK
Any update on this issue? Are you still using the rc505 or maybe have you switched to something else?
I just got a 505 and I like it bu this bug is a pain, and I am still in my return window...thinking about trying a different looper. any suggestions or updates?

Hm, that's bizarre. I've never encountered this issue before, but I have encountered a couple of other random bugs. Maybe get the v.2.0?
